HEAD SPINNING. BREATHING.

Head spinning from so much to do which is what we always do… run these lists in our head rather than concentrate on the moment and just breathe and do what you can when you can and watch it get done by golly little by little. My dizzy brim-full head spins with how I want to read all these poetry books on these shelves and in my Kindle thank you marvels of technology  and biographies of poets and how-to books of poetry and get my shiniest poems together and send them away to literary magazines like throwing seeds in the loose dirt up against the fence crossing fingers to see what will come up in the rain and sun and cold to see what poems might be looked upon favorably and published in a magazine that very few people will ever see, but such a sweet moment when it comes to this. Thinking about chores and body aches shrugging them off and the need to walk and the needs of the dog and holidays and how lax I’ve been over decades of staying in touch with people who have been dear to me and are still. Thinking today about the laundry and running to the post office for my wife and keeping the house in order working on a poetry assignment for a small group of which I am part for socialization as well as moments of ahhhh that poetry can give and classes of Spanish that I’m still teaching even though I’m retired and why am I doing this??? it is out of love for the language for the cultures and for meeting the minds of those who truly desire to learn. It is cold but with a bright sun today reading poems by Jane Kenyon and a book of heartfelt poetic essays called Life’s Work by her husband poet Donald Hall. They were interesting people both now gone which is another thing running through my mind so much to do before being gone..  it’s a different kind of thinking of things to do when you reach this age you take things in stride yes oh yes we are so wise and wiseass too but I am also worried about less time to get them done. Enjoying the moment again and again breathing stretching wondering putting on music again and again. Grateful and in touch with as much as possible.
