STEELERS IN WILD CARD PLAYOFF GAME

SU‍‍NDAY JANUARY 16, 2022

It’s been a disappointing year for the Steelers, although they backed into the playoffs and then were eliminated today in the first wild card game against a dominating Kansas City team that is looking to go to the Super Bowl for the third straight year. It’s been Roethlisberger’s last year of play and it would have been nice for him to go out in a blaze of glory, but that’s not happening. He’s finally making a fight of it in the fourth quarter I guess, but I turned off the game in the middle of the 3rd quarter — just too painful to watch. I guess that qualifies as being a fair weather fan. Sorry.
Final 42 – 21.
I was checking out online postings and of course everybody has an opinion about what they need to do for next year. Obviously the big change is a quarterback and Ben won’t be in the way of that decision, no hurt feelings or feeling disgraced. So they have to decide whether they’re going to trade for an quality established veteran quarterback, draft a near-ready-to-play quarterback from college, or try to develop the ones they have as backups. The latter doesn’t seem to have much potential and they’re talking about making needed changes in the organization(???). The director is leaving after 20 years too, so it will be an interesting year. They really have to develop some solid, consistent offense though to be able to win championships again.
